The challenge
The goal was a system for daily restaurant work on the till computer, with orders and invoices stored locally even without internet. The team needed a clear multilingual interface with separate manager, cashier and waiter permissions.
What I did
• Windows desktop application built with Electron and SQLite.
• Arabic, English, Georgian and Russian, with language-appropriate layout direction.
• A photo menu of 92 items with price, category, modifier and availability management.
• Dine-in and takeaway orders, held orders, table management and bill transfer, splitting and merging.
• Cash, card and mixed payments, with controlled discounts and refunds.
• Shift opening and closing, cash movements, sales reports and CSV export.
• Receipt, thermal-printer and cash-drawer configuration, backups and an audit trail.
The solution
A desktop application in Sufra Shamia’s visual identity, with a local SQLite database and no dependency on an internet connection. The till supports touch, keyboard and mouse, connecting orders to tables, invoices and shifts. Permissions and manager PIN approval control sensitive actions; daily and shift-close backups preserve the data.
